Fall 2005 vs Fall 2006 Enrollment Comparisons - Gerard distributed enrollment statistics to the chairs. He noted that there has been a 2% increase in total enrollments. Gerard shared a paper by Barry Dupen which showed an enrollment graph for our college. These items were discussed.
ALC minutes of August 1 were approved.
AFR documents will be discussed with chairs at the next meeting.
Tech Talk drafts are due to Ken Modesitt by Friday, September 8. Please provide 1-2 pages on your alumni, faculty research, and other department news.
Technology Days - Ken proposed that the college showcase through posters the collaborative projects of student, faculty, and industry partners to advisory boards and parents sometime in late April, 2007. There was discussion of combining this event with others areas. It was decided that a meeting would be scheduled with Carl Drummond, Ken Modesitt, Sarah Merchant, Carol Dostal, and Gerard Voland to work out details about involvement and a time frame.
Nominations for Bonus Opportunity - Nominations are due to Gerard by September 14. Memo describing eligibility and criteria from Dr. Hannah was previously emailed to all ETCS/OLS on August 21.

Mary Jane - no report.
Ken M. - The first colloquium speaker will be Jihad Albayyari. He is scheduled for September 18 at noon in KT 246.
Sarah - The first of four academic advising lunch talks is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27 noon- 1:15 pm in Walb G21. Dr. Deborah McMahan, Allen County Health Commissioner, will be addressing pandemic flu preparedness. Lunch is reserved to the first 20 RSVP’s. A flyer will be sent out later.
Carol - Caryl Spira has been hired as the new Outreach Programs Assistant. Caryl will start on August 28. Carol distributed a brochure about the outreach programs.
Carlos - Don Mueller is putting together his P&T case. The third floor is still in shambles. It is expected that the freshmen engineering lab will be finished within the next couple of weeks. Gerard noted that Carlos will out of the office for a conference, research, and vacation in Finland until the middle of October. Hosni will join us in his stead for the Engineering Department..
Kim - The Master’s Admissions committee has admitted about 14-15 students in to the program. OLS is preparing a proposal for a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate. This summer, OLS mailed letters to non-returning students and had about 8-9 students return this fall.
Bob - Peter Goodmann is re-instituting the Amateur Radio Club, a student organization, and will plug it into a freshmen ECET course. This group will use a room on the third floor of the ETCS building for equipment.
Dan - He is in the process of visiting with each chair. Please share information you feel is pertinent with Dan. Any verbal commitments/approvals for financial support, please get in writing and copy Dan as well.
Steve - Sent final revision of the M.S. in Engineering proposal to Steve Sarratore. The proposal will be forwarded to the Purdue Graduate School within the next week. This program may be considered as early as October. The Graduate School Open House is in October - a flyer will be going out later highlighting Technology and OLS and mentioning Engineering. We need to have displays there.
Jihad - The first course for the M.S. in Technology is being taught this semester by Paul Lin. The committee is working on developing four courses from each department. Next spring two more courses will be offered and by next fall, the program should be fully up and running. Jihad is waiting for appointment as the IPFW Affiliate Director of the Indiana Space Grant Consortium.
The next meeting (for chairs only) will be on September 13 at 9:00 am in ET 206.
