Coordinator must receive the electronic copy (via email) by January 8 by 5 p.m.
Hardcopy must be postmarked by
January 8, 2010

5 point deduction for late submissions (teams must do both the web site and postal mail submission)

  • The "2010 Future City Program Handbook" includes:
    • Essay instructions and requirements are on pgs.16-18
    • *New* for 2010 Rules on pg. 46 - #12 & #13
      Essay length is 700-1,000 words not counting title and bibliography, captions do count toward the word count. Students must submit a reference page citing at least 3 sources of information with the essay. NOTE: You may not use Wikipedia as a reference.
    • Essay Form-complete & submit with hard copy of Essay/City Narrative
      pgs. 52-53
    • Essay rubric used by judges to evaluate is on pgs. 39-42. Score sheets are in the Judges Manual, available on the national website.
    • City narrative (formerly called abstract) rubric is missing from the handbook but is available on the national website
