If selected, you will join a network of pre-college students who explore and experience the world of science, technology, engineering, math, and computers at Sci-TEC events throughout the year. Meet new friends with similar interests, engage in fun team challenges, and explore related careers. The Academy will launch you into experiences that enhance YOUR FUTURE!

Eligibility and Requirements for membership

The 2015-16 embership is limited to 30 participants. Notification of acceptance will occur shortly after the application period is closed.

  • Grades: 8th grade (current or upcoming fall) through 12th grade students
  • STEM Participant: Applicants must have participated in at least one of the following activities: an IPFW Summer Exploration, FIRST LEGO League or any FIRST program, Indiana Future City, Math Counts, Science and Engineering Fair, Engineers Week Middle or High School Bridge Contest, New Tech Showcase, YouthBOT or attended an Explore IPFW Day/or Campus Visit
  • Approval: Signature of Parent or Guardian required for those under 18 years old or applicant if over 18 after acceptance into program
Application procedures
Deadline is
September 23, 2015
  • Complete application and include a student profile listing past STEM activities. Write a short paragraph describing your interest and why you would like to be selected.
  • Provide one name on application of an adult other than a parent or family member (example: teacher, guidance counselor, youth mentor, STEM competition coach, etc.) who could recommend you.
  • Cost: There is no cost to apply. If selected, a reduced participation fee of $40 is required upon student’s confirmation.
