The Society of
Manufacturing Engineers is dedicated to bringing people and information
together to advance manufacturing knowledge. We are internationally
recognized by manufacturing practitioners, companies and other
organizations as their source for information, education and networking.
The goals
of this organization is to encourage students to learn about the
different
aspects of manufacturing by participating in plant tours, lectures, and
manufacturing events sponsored by the organization. We want our
members to
grow personally as well as professionally through SME. Also, we
want to promote the life long learning of manufacturing principals and
techniques.
SME student
chapters meet about twice a month. At those meetings we will schedule
educational plant tours, guest speaker appearances, and other special
events. We also discuss plans for projects and engineering activities.
We are also planning to social activities where members and non members
can get together.
SME will
give you the opportunitity to visit companies, network with
professional engineers, get to know your fellow classmates, and
increase your
knowledge of manufacturing. Also, you have the opportunity
to gain leadership experience and improve your communication
